SpareTime consists of five hard working people that reside and work in the Santa Clarita and San Fernando Valleys. They’ve been seen at many of Santa Clarita’s well attended events incuding Bella Via, Taste of the Town, Crouquet Classic, etc. They’ve performed at TPC Valencia, Hyatt Regency Valencia, Valencia Country Club and COC Performing Arts Center to name a few. They’ve also tantalized many patrons for private and business parties all over Southern California.
SpareTime has been together since 1999 and is made up of five people that came together initially out of a love of music as an expression of thanks and praise to God. All of the members have been musically involved since their youth and experienced many different musical endeavors.
Inevitably, they met while playing together on different worship teams in a variety of churches in the Santa Clarita and San Fernando Valleys. Out of a profound love for music, and with a varied background of experience, SpareTime was formed to give greater expression to a variety of musical types with an emphasis on jazz – contemporary, smooth, jazz-rock, pop, straight ahead, Latin, and many other styles.
Truthfully, there is a wide breadth of styles; the criteria for musical selections are having fun, enjoying the music, and striving for higher levels of musical expression.
Although most of the band members have played professionally at various times in their lives, for the most part, this project is a labor of love and fun that is undertaken as a diversion from other life roles – something that is done in … you guessed it, spare time.
