Leroy Chavez

Bass/Vocals

Born in Salzburg, in present day Austria, he showed prodigious ability from early childhood. Already competent on keyboard and violin, he was composing music from the age of five and toured the royal courts of Europe…oh wait! That’s Mozart’s story!

Leroy was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. His mother played the piano and encouraged his interest in music when he began playing piano at age seven. As a bass player, Leroy has played in bands of several genres, including but not limited to, rock ‘n roll, blues, country-western, top-40, pop, reggae and jazz. Some of Leroy’s credits include Soko, former drummer for Ike & Tina Turner, Dewey Martin, of Buffalo Springfield, Neftali Santiago of Mandrill, to name a few.

Leroy was the worship pastor for 25 years at a San Fernando Valley church and is currently leading worship at another. He loves music of all kinds and, “I’m delighted to be the newest member of SpareTime”.
